Visit of Ambassador Pavel Hrnčíř in British Columbia

From October 17 to 19, 2018, Ambassador Pavel Hrnčíř visited British Columbia, where he met with provincial government officials and attended the Gala evening of the Czech and Slovak Association of Canada.

The Ambassador met with Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology Bruce Ralston, and with George Chow, Minister of State for Trade. After the recent provincial elections that won the New Democratic Party (BC NDP), it was the first meeting of the Ambassador with the representatives of the new government. The province is highly interested in expanding economic relations with Europe after the CETA signing. The Ambassador also met with Tony Loughran, Assistant Deputy Minister, Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. They exchanged views on mobility of Czech and Canadian students.

The Ambassador, together with his wife, also attended Gala evening, organized by the Czech and Slovak Association of Canada - Vancouver Branch, where the Ambassador made a speech on the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia. Gala evening was attended by more than 200 Czech and Slovak compatriots. The part of the program was performance of Czech and Slovak dance groups and music bands. The event was attended by Czech Honorary Consul in Vancouver, Karel V. Galland.

The Ambassador also met with Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Victoria - with Jim Reed and the Vice-Consul Lenka Storzer.
