A joint on-line event of the V4 countries and Canada on the topic of cooperation on economic recovery after the coronavirus pandemic and the importance of clean technologies will be held on June 1 from 3.30 pm CET (9:30 am EDT).

The event will feature the representatives of the Embassies of the V4 countries, Global Affairs Canada and the cleantech sector.

In Canada cleantech belongs to a group of fast-growing sectors which are to play a role in the recovery of economic growth and the transition of the economy. Within the 2021 budget, expenditures and tax breaks of CAD 17.6 billion have been pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to support the development of clean technologies.

The EU countries are approaching the recovery and modernization of their economies together. A key economic element is the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), EU's largest instrument within the Next Generation EU Recovery Plan (NGEU). The RRF is aimed at helping Member States address the economic and social impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and at ensuring that the economies undergo ecological and digital transitions and become more sustainable.

In this context the Czech Republic has created a National Recovery Plan which is to help access EU funding and restart and modernize our economy. The amount of 200 billion CZK will be invested in digitalization, smart energy and transport, decarbonization, clean mobility, water, education, social services, science and preventive healthcare. The Czech Republic plans to invest a separate CZK 82 billion in the green transition itself.
