On Friday April 9, Ambassador Zebrakovsky met with Mr. and Mrs. Skvorecky in Toronto.
At the beginning of this very pleasant meeting was the literary award Angelus which is being awarded in Polish city of Wroclaw to writers from Central Europe region. Mr. Josef Skvorecky received this award in fall 2009 for his novel The Engineer of Human Souls, translated into Polish by Skvorecky's friend Andrzej Jagodzinski. Because of healthy reasons, Mr. Skvorecky was not able to travel to Poland to personnaly attend the ceremony and that is why the statuette of an angel travelled to Toronto round via Varsaw, Prague, Vancouver and Ottawa.
