Czech border closure for travelers from Canada – effective from November 9, 2020

As of  November 9, 2020, the borders of the Czech Republic will be closed, with limited exceptions, to travelers from countries not on the list of the Czech Republic's Ministry of Health Travel Directive, that categorizes countries in relation to their infection rates overall. This Directive is issued in accordance with the Council of the EU recommendation.

Therefore, on November 4, 2020, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic issued a decision removing Canada from Travel Directive, meaning that border closure will apply to travelers from Canada as of November 9, 2020, until further notice. Czech citizens with valid Czech travel documents can travel to the Czech Republic without any entry limitations.

The Entry Ban Exceptions apply to Canadians and residents of Canada who are holders of a long-term visa or long-term permit in the Czech Republic or in any of the EU countries, to travelers whose journey is in the national interest of the Czech Republic and to travelers in exceptional and emergency situations.

As of November 9, 2020, all such travelers from Canada, including the Czech citizens, are obliged to fill in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form online before the travel. Minor passengers must be included in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form of the relevant adult traveler.  The completed form is automatically sent online to the Regional Hygiene Station in the traveler's Czech residence.

After filling out and submitting the form online, the traveler will receive a Confirmation of Submission of the Form. Please print the Confirmation and present it upon request at the airline's check-in before departure.

Within five days after the arrival to the Czech Republic, the traveler is obliged to undergo a RT-PCR test for the presence of the COVID-19 virus and report the result of the test to the Regional Hygiene Station, listed here.  The virus test obligation does not apply to children under 5.

Within 10 days of arrival in the CR or until the notification of a negative test result, the traveler is obliged to observe the principles of a restricted movement, i.e. to limit movement away from home to a minimum.
