The Czech Embassy participated in the European Youth Day in Phnom Penh

The delegation of the European Union in Cambodia, together with the embassies of Czechia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) and representatives of international organizations, organized another annual "Youth Day" in its premises. The event was aimed at young Cambodians who want to pursue higher education in Europe and would like to take advantage of the scholarship opportunity.

On 25 May 2023, representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Phnom Penh took part in the second annual "Youth Day", organized by the Delegation of the European Union in Cambodia. Participating Cambodian students were provided with information on scholarships and higher education opportunities in Czechia at the Czech stand. The students had a number of questions beyond the scope of the study itself, for example, they were interested in safety and weather conditions in Czechia or Czech gastronomy. Interested parties were advised that the application process for the 2024/25 academic year would take place in August and September 2023.

In addition to Czechia, university scholarships from other member states - France, Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary, and the European Union as a whole were presented at separate stands. International organizations also had their stands here, namely the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The program also included discussion meetings with important guests, among whom was the ambassador of the Czech Republic, Martin Vávra. In addition, the participants could familiarize themselves with the activities of the EU and member states in the field of environmental protection in Cambodia in an audiovisual form.

The whole event was very popular, with around 250 young Cambodians from more than 20 public and private universities coming. Compared to last year, which was attended by about 100 students in the fading covid restrictions, this is therefore a rapid increase in participation.
