Cambodian Delegates of the National Pediatric Hospital visited the Czech Republic

The management team of the National Pediatric Hospital (NPH) headed by Dr. Nhip Angkeabos, Director of National Pediatric Hospital, visited the General Faculty Hospital in Prague from March 30th to April 6th, 2019 to participate in the bilateral training project "Development of Neonatology Department within the National Pediatric Hospital". The team of Cambodian experts also hold a line of meetings to discuss the subsequent activities under this project, which is funded by the Czech Republic/Czech Development Agency within a Bilateral Development Cooperation Program aiming to improve maternal and child health care in Cambodia.
 

During the seven days visit in the Czech Republic, the management team of the National Pediatric Hospital visited different departments of the General Faculty Hospital in Prague interlinked to neonatology and pediatrics and together with the Czech specialists discussed ongoing process of neonatal guideline development for the needs of the National Pediatric Hospital in Cambodia. The management team of NPH had a hands-on opportunity to compare and discuss medical practice in both the Czech Republic and Cambodia. Czech specialists also provided some recommendations about the importance of Perinatal Center, the development and improvement of the Neonatal Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the continuous capacity development for medical staff, the model of training for clinical practice by using case scenario setup in simulation laboratories and pointed up also the Neonatal screening program and child health check-ups.

The next phase of the project more practically oriented for medical staff from the National Pediatric Hospital is planned to take place in the second half of 2019.
