Bilateral Projects

Cambodia remains on the priority list of the Czech Republic Government. In 2016 Cambodia was selected as one of few priority countries targeted for the Development Cooperation by the Czech Republic. Another page of Development Cooperation between the two countries was opened by signing the Memorandum of Understanding on Development Cooperation between the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic on May 17, 2018. Agreed Bilateral Development Cooperation Program 2018-2023 will enhance mutual relations, while at the same time enables the Czech Republic to assist the Cambodian Government in achieving its Rectangular Strategy, Phase IV and its ambition in becoming an upper middle income country by 2030.

In this respect, the Bilateral Development Cooperation Program 2018-2023 will focus on education, emphasizing the secondary education and vocational training, on health with a particular focus on mother and child care and on water and sanitation. Geographically, a substantial part of development activities should be carried out in Kampong Chhnang province. Simultaneously, to ensure effectiveness and sustainability of the cooperation, some particular projects are highly encouraged to take place at the national level.

These projects are funded and managed by the Czech Development Agency and coordinated in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Phnom Penh.
