Czechia helps to improve sludge management in Kampong Chhnang province

On 29th September 2021, H.E. Martin Vávra, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Sun Sovannarith, Governor of Kampong Chhnang Province, witnessed a handover ceremony of a sludge truck donated by the Czech Republic to the Provincial Department of Rural Development in Kampong Chhnang.
 

This truck will be used for improvement of the sludge management in the whole province reaching up to 105 616 ID Poor I and II HHs. It is the main output of the granted project “Faecal Sludge Management and Humanure Production” under the Small scale project theme implemented by local non-governmental organisation Life With Dignity in cooperation with Czech organisation Diaconia ECCB-CRD and University of Life Science in Prague. The project presents holistic approach combining the sludge management with educational materials for optimization of humanure production, making the authorities the direct beneficiaries and local farmer communities the indirect beneficiaries of this intervention.

The project, funded directly by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, is implemented as a complementary part to a big bilateral project of the Czech Development Agency that focuses on improvement of water, sanitation and hygiene in Kampong Chhnang province in a complex way.
