Cambodia - ceremonial of handover Czech technology to pepper growers from Kampot

(This article expired 31.12.2020.)

At a ceremony in Chumkamon, Kampot province, representatives of the Czech company Cambodian Ltd. handed over a technology set  imported from the Czech Republic under the B2B program of the Czech Development Agency to Cambodian partners.

The Czech company Cambodian founded EU Land & Peper Investment in Cambodia, through which it provides technological and organizational assistance to smaller pepper growers located in the villages of Chhuk district of Kampot province, using the B2B development program. Kampot pepper is known for its world-class quality. The imported technology of the Czech companies Imatech and Konel will allow Cambodian growers a perfect drying and vacuuming of production, thus increasing its quality and durability. This processed pepper production is subsequently purchased at fair-trade prices and offered on the Czech market.

The delivery of the technology, which rounded off the existing phase of cooperation with smaller farmers in the surrounding villages, was appreciated at the handover ceremony by the representatives of the Cambodian Pepper Processing Association (KPPA), the Mayor of Chumkamon and the Czech Embassy in Phnom Penh. The handover of the instrumentation was also associated with an explanation of the functioning and possibilities of the delivered technology to the farmers present and a discussion on the cooperation of individual subjects in the pepper processing process during the harvest period, including logistics of harvesting and harvest processing.

The B2B project to support small farmers with Kampotian pepper, implemented in Cambodia with financial support from the Czech Development Agency, broadly fulfills the philosophy of combining development support of the partner country with the supply of Czech technological equipment and direct cooperation of private entities. Involved small farmers and their families are getting a stable purchase of their production thanks to the project of a Czech company, which they were not able to sell due to the lack of market access so far. This leads to a universal improvement of their social situation and living conditions. At the same time, the project will introduce Czech technology to producers in the region and at the same time ensure the supply of top-quality agricultural production from Cambodia to the counters of Czech consumers.
