BEFORE YOU APPLY

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

 

Once submitted, your application cannot be changed. We strongly advise applicants to do so well before the closing date i.e. 30th September.

 

Q1. What should I do and how can I apply on line?

A1: The first key action for you at this stage is to fill in and send the application through this register online for the application, proceed as follow:

  • Prepare basic materials containing the data required for filling in the application:

- passport and documents of any started, passed and unfinished studies

- list of study/research stays abroad (year, length, place, purpose) for the last 5 years

- motivation letter (maximum 1000 characters or 150 words)

  1. Create a personal e-mail address if you do not have one. You will need the address to log in to the register of applications and any further communication regarding this scholarship programme (Czech Government Scholarship).
  2. Check whether you have installed Acrobat Reader for printing the application in PDF format (in case of invitation to an interview at the Embassy).
  3. Before filling in relevant boxes in the application, read the instructions carefully - click on the question mark sign.  It is not necessary to fill in the application at once. The data will be saved after clicking on the box "continue with the application later on“. It is possible to return to it after logging in to the system again.
  4. Send the completed electronic application for the academic year - click on the green box to send the application.
  5. Fill in the necessary tests: for studying in English -Test of English language + Test of General Academic Prerequisites (Knowledge test)
  6. The test can be taken at any time after sending the application.
  7. Tests are available after re-logging in to the register of applications until 30th September.
  8. Your entire application will be accepted and evaluated only after completing the necessary test.
  9. PLEASE, DO NOT FILL IN USING YOUR MOBILE PHONE!
  10. Beware of the old browsers (Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8) as they might cause problems.
  11. Firefox is the best browser to use for applications.

 

INTERVIEW ROUND

 

Q1. How do I know if I am shortlisted?

A1: Based on your test results submitted through the application platform, the Embassy will shortlist and invite (via your contact information provided on the application) for an individual interview at the Embassy.

 

Q2. When and how long does it normally take?

A2: The interview will be scheduled within the first week of October and it will be about 10mins-20mins long.

 

Q3. What will be the next step if I am selected to the next round?

A3: The interview result will be announced to the invited candidate within one week and the Embassy will inform for further instruction if you are selected to the next procedure.

 

DOCUMENTATION PROCEDURE (IF YOU ARE SHORTLISTED)

 

The required documentation followed by the list on the last page of your application form intended for printing. However, the Embassy will email to those shortlisted applicants for further instruction with a submission deadline.

 

VISA PROCEDURE

 

This is the final stage of your application. You will be officially announced by the Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Cambodia with a visa procedure via email, in May the latest with a submission deadline. At the same time, you will be contacted by your university for further document arrangement i.e. accommodation contract, acceptance/ admission letter, etc.

 

PRE-DEPATURE PREPARATION

 

Q1. When should I depart from Cambodia?

A1: It is advisable to arrive to the Czech Republic around one week prior the study starts for acclimatization.

 

Q2. What are the rules to enter the Czech Republic during the pandemic?

Q3. When will the school start?

A3: You are recommended to contact the school / university directly. The schedule of each school or study area can slightly differ.

 

Q4. When should I book/ purchase the air ticket?

A4: It is recommended that the air ticket can be reserved and will not issue/ purchase as long as you obtain the visa. The air ticket must be bought with a final destination from Phnom Penh to Prague so that the passenger doesn’t need to exit the transit places and the checked luggage will go until the final destination. It is also highly recommended to book the flight ticket with the professional travel agency or airline website directly.

 

Q5. When I have to inform my timetable of arrival to Czech Republic to these emails? Is it a must that I have to mail my schedule to these emails vladni.stipendia@dzs.cz and tranzit@ujop.cuni.cz and university?

A5: Yes. As soon as you have the air-ticket, it is desirable to send information to those emails:

Q6. When I arrive in Czech Republic, is there someone to pick me up at the airport and bring me to the school?

A6: It is advisable that you contact also your university if there is any arrangement. Make sure that you have a place to stay in case your expected arrival date is earlier than your accommodation contract.

 

Q7. I have to bring some money in the first month I arrive in Czech Republic?

A7: YES. Read guideline @ Chapter #4 “Upon arrival in the Czech Republic” on page #11 - #12, students must be prepared to pay initial expenses of CZK 3,000 to 5,000 for administrative fees related to their studies and/or additional expenses according to their needs (e.g. clothing, translations, document legalization, etc.).

 

Additional info:

  1. Before departing for the Czech Republic, students should take into account the Central European climate and bring adequate clothing. Temperatures in winter (December-March) may drop in extreme cases to -10 °C (14 °F) during the night

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q1: Where and how can I apply for the fully funded Czech Government Scholarship?
A1: All the necessary information are provided on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth
and Sport of the Czech Republic. To apply, please follow the instructions on the online application
register.

 

Q2: Can you provide me with the list of all the documents needed for my application?

Q3: Is my country eligible to apply for the Czech Government Scholarship?

Q4: If I come from the developing country, can I still apply for the Czech Government Scholarship?

A4: No, based on the resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic, the scholarship of the Government of the Czech Republic is limited only to applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Georgia, Cambodia, Moldova, Ukraine and Zambia.

Q5: I am not a citizen of an eligible country, but I am a permanent resident of an eligible country. Can I still apply?
A5: No.

 

Q6: What are the Master and Doctoral study programmes I can choose from?
A6: The list of study programmes is updated for every academic year in spring and published on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Please, check the offer before applying.

 

Q7: Where can I apply for undergraduate fully funded scholarship?
A7: Each applicant is obliged to fill in an electronic application form available at http://registr.dzs.cz/registr.nsf

 

Q8: How long does it take to get the decision of my application?
A8: The first part of evaluation is conducted during the period from 1st October to 1 January. If you are
selected to become a scholarship holder (the last part of evaluation), you will be informed in May.
Meanwhile, you can always check the status of your application.

 

Q9: Do I need to take any tests during the application process?
A9: Yes, the application for study programmes in English includes an English test and a General
knowledge test. If you apply for a study programme in Czech, you only take the General knowledge test.
In case of omission of any compulsory tests, your application will not be proceeded.

 

Q10: Why is it not possible to study a doctoral study programme in the Czech language?
A10: According to the current conditions, the Czech government scholarship does not offer any doctoral
study programmes in the Czech language. This may change in the future. If you want to study in the Czech
language, you can apply for a doctoral scholarship provided directly by the university.
