Meeting with Cambodian applicants for scholarship in the Czech Republic

On 24 June 2019, candidates for the government scholarship to study in the Czech Republic met at the Czech Embassy in Phnom Penh.

Ten Cambodian applicants successfully qualified for the possibility of starting their studies at a Czech university for the 2019/20 academic year. During the meeting at the Czech Embassy, the students received information on the final stage of the assessment of their scholarship applications. After completing all formalities, they will be able to travel to the Czech Republic. In the upcoming academic year, Cambodian students showed interest in a master's or doctoral degree at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, and Tomas Bata University in Zlín.

The Czech government renewed the possibility of accepting Cambodian students to study at Czech universities in the mid-1990s. Thus, in the modern history of the Czech Republic, seventy more students from Cambodia have joined the significant number of Cambodian graduates from universities studying in the former Czechoslovakia in the 1960s and 1980s.

The provision of government scholarships is one of the tools by which the Czech Republic supports Cambodia, which stands in a position of the priority partner country for development cooperation.
