NATO Day 2015

Dne 04.04. se Velvyslanectví ČR zúčastnilo akce Nato Day 2015 která se pořádala v Podgorici na hlavním náměstí (Trg Republike). Pořadatelem teto akce byl Atlatntic Council of Montenegro spolu s Vládou Černé Hory a hlavním městem Podgorica, a mimo Velvyslanectví ČR se akce na společném stánku zúčastnily i zastupitelské úřady ostatních členských státu NATO.

Atlantic Council of Montenegro in cooperation with the Government of Montenegro and Capital Podgorica, and with the support of NATO, for the second time celebrated April 4 - NATO Founding Day.

Day-long celebration of NATO Founding Day was marked by variety of activities. It started with planting of 29 trees at Gorica Hill, out of which 28 symbolize NATO member states, and the 29th tree represents Montenegro as the future NATO member state. Citizens from different segments of society, Members of Parliament of Montenegro, high-ranking state officials as well as representatives from diplomatic core participated in trees planting.

Central segment of NATO Day started at 12pm at the Republic Square and attracted large number of visitors of all generations. The event started with the jump of two parachutists from the aero club „Špiro Mugoša“ who carried both Montenegrin and NATO flags. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoye in performance of the Montenegrin Military Orchestra, music band Beer & Steel as well as in parade of young majorettes from “Alisa“ dance club. In addition to this part of the program,interested visitors had the opportunity to get the information on advantages and disadvantages of joining NATO, at the stand of the Atlantic Council of Montenegro and also through the talks with representatives of the Membership Council's Communication Team. Montenegrin Army and Police, as well as the Emergency and Rescue Service of Capital Podgorica presented their equipment and skills. At the stands of NATO member state embassies, citizens could get the information on their culture and tourist offer while Montenegrin tourist offer was presented at the stand of the National Tourist Organization. Beside the boy scouts of Podgorica, the representatives of the political parties advocating Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro also took part at this celebration.

The third segment of NATO Day celebration was panel discussion named “Future We Believe In“ which was held at KIC “Budo Tomović”. Speakers at the panel were Miško Rađenović, tourist expert, Mina Raičević, manager of the Montenegro Business Alliance and Vanja Vuković from the Association of Humanist Women of Montenegro called “Montenegrin Woman”. From the perspectives of their work fields, they expressed their position on why it is good for Montenegro to be NATO member state. Afterwards, there was organized an official cocktail as a closing part of the NATO Day celebration.

The goal of this celebration is to show both citizens and international partners that Montenegro puts all its efforts in order to achieve one of the key foreign policy goals - NATO membership. Celebration of NATO Day in Montenegro gains in importance also due to the decision from NATO Summit in Wales concerning the intensified and focused dialogue with Montenegro, which will hopefully lead to NATO membership invitation.
