Partnership with Tri-Continental Human Rights Film Festival

For the first time, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria became a proud partner of the Tri-Continental Human Rights Film Festival that took place on September 13 – 29, 2013 in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town.

At the initiative of the Czech Embassy, Ms. Hana Kulhánková, Director of the Human Rights Film Festival One World (Jeden svět) in Prague, attended the festival as well as the People to People International Documentary Conference (P2P). The conference is organized bi-annually

in cooperation with Wits University in Johannesburg with the broad aim of bringing people and organizations together, to strengthen the role and the scope of documentary film in Africa. Ms. Hana Kulhankova participated as a key-note speaker at two panel discussions:

-          Docschool: Navigating the Festival Circuit. Understanding the international film festival landscape

-          Agitprop, Art or Objectivity. A debate between practitioners about approaches to socio-political subject matter

Three documentaries were presented with the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic as a part of the Echoes of the One World Festival in Prague:

-          Miss Nikki and the Tiger Girls

-          Bahrain: The Forbidden Country

-          Give Us the Money
