Successful Mission of Zuzana Pavlovska in SA and Exhibition „Don´t Lose Faith in Mankind“

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Centres of Holocaust and Genocide in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town invited Mrs. Zuzana Pavlovska, Head of the Department for Education and Culture of the Jewish Museum in Prague to accompany the exhibition "Don´t Lose Faith in Mankind" in South Africa.

Mrs. Zuzana Pavlovská had many lectures for the public, educators and schools.

From 31st May to 2nd June 2016 Mrs. Pavlovská lectured in Durban, where the exhibition was exposed in the Centre of Holocaust and Genocide. The exhibition of the Jewish Museum in Prague presents the fate of six Czech Jewish children during World War II and important moments of the Czechoslovak history from Nazi taking power by the end of the war.

Subsequently, from 5 to 7 June 2016, had Mrs. Pavlovska very rich and demanding program in Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Johannesburg, where she lectured to the public, educators and youth. You can visit the exhibition in JHB Centre until June 21, 2016.

On 6th June 2016 the Embassy also hosted a Kosher Cocktail in honour of the opening of the exhibition and the visit of Ms Zuzana Pavlovská, which took place at the Residence of the Ambassador in Pretoria. There were kosher dishes and Czech kosher wines served (imported from the Czech Republic by the Deputy Ambassador N. Adamcova). The Cocktail was attended by representatives of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre, representatives of the local Jewish community, holocaust survivors and invited diplomats.

Mrs. Pavlovska ended her mission in Cape Town, where she had public lectures and presentations for teachers. Finally she visited Westerford High School, where she led the workshop for students.

A great public interest had the lecture of Mrs. Pavlovska about the fate of the Jewish community in Czechoslovakia after r. 1945. The lecture in JHB Centre attended 150 people. Embassy registered a very positive response to this lecture, especially from survivors.

We would like to thank the Jewish Museum in Prague and all three Holocaust and Genocide Centres for their excellent cooperation in ensuring this mission. But the biggest thanks belong to Mrs. Pavlovská for her professional approach.
