The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria in cooperation with the Brooklyn Theater in Pretoria organized a concert which took place on the 3rd and 4th March 2018 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Czechoslovakia.
Dvořák's cello concert and the 9th symphony e-minor "From the New World" was part of the programme.
Invited artists from the Czech Republic, conductor Mgr. Johann Štván and violoncellist RNDr. et MgA. Jan PECH, Ph. D., performed in collaboration with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra.
On March 2, 2018, the rehearsal was open to the public, and children from the poor neighborhoods of Pretoria were also invited.
The Brooklyn Theater in Pretoria was completely sold out for both concerts on the 3rd and 4th March 2018. It turned out that there is a great interest in Czech composers such as Antonín Dvořák by local music lovers.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria cordially thanks the artists for their exceptional performances!
