Screening of the Czech film Lidice in Cape Town

On 6 November 2012 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria in cooperation with the Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Cape Town presented a screening of a Czech historical drama movie „Lidice".
Ambassador B. Fajkusová welcomed the guests on behalf of the Embassy of the Czech Republic and presented Prof. Václav Hampl, Vice-Chancellor of the Charles University in Prague, who as a guest of honour gave a speech on the historical context of the events shown by the film (attached). An exhibition of 14 drawings by the participants from South Africa in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts – Lidice, commemorating the children war victims, accompanied the screening. More than a hundred of participants, including the Czechs and Holocaust survivors, left the Centre after the performance deeply moved.
