Kateřina Mildnerová's book dedicated to Namibian Czechs launched in Windhoek

On 9 January 2021, the book Namibian Czechs by Kateřina Mildnerová, that describes history and identity of Namibian children raised in Czechoslovakia, was launched in Windhoek. The publication narrates the troubled fates of the so-called "Czech-Namibian children", who were brought up in Czechoslovakia in the 1980's and 1990's, and were later forced to return to Namibia. The ceremony was co-organized by the Czech Embassy in Pretoria, the research of the Czech anthropologist and sociologist Dr. K. Mildnerová was financed by Palacký University in Olomouc. Despite the prevailing anti-pandemic restrictions, a number of Namibian Czechs from various parts of Namibia, honorable guests and speakers were participating in the event. Together with the author and under the close supervision of the documentary team of the Czech Television, all participants jointly celebrated the publication of the books which. Sixty copies for Namibian Czechs were purchased by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Public library in Windhoek and university both received own prints.
