Czech company contributes to construction of Kusile

Hutní montáže Joint Stock company, part of the VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY engineering group has launched assembly of the third boiler in Kusile coal power plant in South Africa. The company is involved in the construction of the plant since 2013. The contract for the installation of a steam boiler is worth about a CZK 250 million.  Hutní montáže assembly mounted helical membrane walls, hoppers and transition pieces. Completion of the third assembly of the boiler is scheduled for September 2016. The Kusile will consist of a total of six such units (each 800 MW) and each boiler will be about 130 meters tall. Due to the lack of water in the region, the dry cooling system is being installed.
 

Mitsubishi, Hitachi Power Systems Africa (MHPSA), the long time partner of Hutní montáže is a main contractor for the Kusile power plant construction. The Kusile power station will be the most advanced coal power plant of Eskom.

There are up to 110 construction fitters, welders and technicians engaged in the construction. The company also agreed to the transfer of experience in professional occupations within the program for local African workers. These local workers will be subsequently integrated into the construction project.

Hutní montáže is a specialized company that in addition to energy complexes focuses on industrial and road construction, water works, installations in the mining industry and also operates assembly mechanisms. In addition to projects in South Africa Hutní montáže operates especially in Europe. The company has about 700 employees.
