Czechia supports Kosovo children in the region of Gjilan

On Monday, November 21, 2016 the Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý received an invitation of the Mayor of Gjilan municipality Lufti Haziri for a meetings and discussion on the cooperation in the field of education. The Czech Ambassador stressed the importance of the current cooperation on the background of bilateral cooperation between elementary schools Chvaletická in Prague and Liria in Pogragjë, with reference to the Czech support for Kosovo's pupils and students, who deserve their chance. The mayor Haziri highly praised the achievements of the Czech Republic in the development of the Kosovo educational system and thanked the Czech Ambassador for persistent encouragement and support of Gjilan region.

The Meeting of the Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý and the Mayor of Gjilan municipality Lufti Haziri took place shortly after visiting the elementary school Liria in Pogragjë, where under the auspices of the Czech Embassy Mr. Hilmi Zogjani, the first Kosovo Ambassador in Prague after 2008, shared his own experience from the time he spent in the Czech Republic.

On April 18, 2016 the Headmaster of Chvaletická Primary School in Prague 9 Josef Knepr signed Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation with Headmaster of “Liria” Primary School (Pogragjë, Gjilan) Hajrush Limoni in Pogragjë.

The main purpose of cooperation is to improve knowledge of schoolchildren of both schools in European and global context and to apprise them of cultural differences. The cooperation is being implemented within a framework of a long term project. A joint presentation on the web site of Chvaletická school is part of the project.
