Germia Hill Conference 2016 in Pristina

On February 2 – 3, 2016 Germia Hill Conference took place in the Swiss Diamond Hotel in Pristina. The international conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Aspen Institute Germany, and offered a framework to address and explicate a difficult geopolitical landscape from a South East European perspective. Prime-Minister of the Kosovo Government Isa Mustafa opened the event in a conference hall overcrowded by international experts, diplomats, and media representatives. Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hashim Thaçi with his counter-parts from Macedonia and Montenegro together with ministers from Albania and Hungary opened a debate on NATO and EU role in Western Balkans.

The conference brought together high-level decision-makers and experts to discuss Euro-Atlantic security against a changing geopolitical background and elaborate on solutions for Europe’s vulnerabilities. A particular focus was concentrated on South East Europe – a region that due to its geographical position and its ongoing transition and reform processes is left particularly vulnerable to the security challenges the entire European continent is facing.
