Head of the Czech Embassy awarded in the Academy on International White Cane Week

On October 15, 2019 Head of the Czech Embassy in Pristina, Mr. Pavel Bilek, participated in the Academy International White Cane Week organized by Kosovo Association of Blind. In the Academy were present President of the Kosovo Disabled Forum, Bujar Kadriu, President of the of the Kosovo Blind Association, Daut Tishiki and representatives of other NGOs representing different Kosovo disabled communities.

The Academy evaluated the situation of the blind community in Kosovo.  Czech Republic has been helping for many years in full inclusion of the blind people in to Kosovo society. As President of the Kosovo Blind Association, Daut Tishuki, stated: “Embassy of the Czech Republic through their projects managed to help blind community from an almost total illiterate community in to the academic and intellectual level.”

Head of the Czech Embassy in Pristina, Pavel Bilek, underlined: “Czech Republic has traditional and long-standing experience in helping blind people. That is why we have chosen this help as one of our areas of cooperation there where young Kosovo state has not enough know-how and resources.”

The Association of Blind, “for the contribution given in advancing rights of the blind people in the Republic of Kosovo” gave an acknowledgment to the Head of the Czech Embassy, Pavel Bilek.
