In Kosovo with Love

On October 27, 2016 a reception on the occasion of the Czech National Day and opening ceremony of a photo exhibition “In Kosovo with Love” took place in the Kosovo National Library in Pristina. The event was attended by former President Atifete Jahjaga, former President Fatmir Sejdiu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Enver Hoxhaj and many other prominent guests. Members of the diplomatic corps, international missions in Kosovo and Kosovo's cultural and political scene particularly appreciated the uniqueness of the event, pleasing atmosphere, resourcefulness and artistic experience.

An opening ceremony of a photo exhibition followed the official part of the reception. The exhibition displays 32 B&W pictures mirroring daily life in Kosovo, mainly in Pristina captured by  a Czech “street photographer” Albert Pich. A concept of the exhibition was designed as a natural artistic reflection on the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ initiative #InstaKosovo which is an alternative space for a creative Kosovo diplomacy. It uses new channels for communication, mainly among young people, to spread a message by non-verbal creative means. The exhibition was sponsored by Raiffeisen Bank Kosova and will be open to public till November 10, 2016.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý presented the exhibition as a virtual gate to the daily life of ordinary people in Kosovo when the worlds of politics and diplomacy, thanks to the pictures of the Czech street photographer, shade into the life of people in the streets. This lap dissolve is a symbolic expression of the concept that we are all members of one big human family and we should cultivate mutual affection and respect to each other. The author of the photographs Albert Pich in his speech reminded his seven years he spent in Kosovo and mentioned people he met and their fates he tried to capture on their faces by his camera.

The exhibition became part of the Cultural Calendar in Kosovo.
