International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2017 – Diploma Handover

On April 16, 2018, the head of the Czech Embassy in Pristina Mr. Ivo Šilhavý handed over a Lidice Memorial Honorable Diploma to the schoolgirl Kodra Dituri from the Emin Duraku School in Kaçanik. The work of Kodra Dituri was evaluated as one of the best works in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2017.

Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý handed the diploma over to Kodra Dituri in the class-room in the presence of her class-mates, the director of the school Adyl Reka, the deputy mayor Ylber Bajra, the official of the regional authority Hajrush Dullovi and her teachers.  In his short speech, Ambassador Šilhavý stressed the historical context of the exhibition in memory of Lidice children murdered by the Nazis. At the same time he appreciated the students’ interest in the exhibition, their talents and the support of the whole event provided by the teachers

The headmaster of the school thanked Ambassador Šilhavý for the personal handover of the diploma, which became an important event for their elementary school and it also provided a great motivation for the pupils and the teachers to participate in the following season of the art exhibition.

Historically, the first participation of Kosovo pupils at the International Children's Art Exhibition took place in 2014 at the initiative of the Liria Elementary School. The first achievements of Kosovo pupils and the promotion of the competition by the Czech Embassy in Pristina led to spreading the awareness of the exhibition among other schools in Kosovo. In total 11 Kosovo schools applied for the exhibition in 2017 and sent 169 children's works to Lidice Memorial.
