Invention for Destruction movie presented at the Week of Francophonie

On March 23, 2016 a Czechoslovak adventure film “Invention for Destruction” directed by Karel Zeman was presented in the French Cultural Centre in Pristina as part of the “Week of Francophonie in Kosovo”.  This famous movie became a global phenomenon in 1958 and belongs to the world’s classics. Zeman uses original visual effects combining live actors with scenes evoking 19th century pictorial steel engravings from Jules Verne’s books by French painters Édouard Riou and Léon Benett. Special effects were inspired by techniques used in French films by Georges Méliès in the beginning of 20th century.

The French Ambassador to Kosovo Maryse Daviet and Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý introduced the screening. The guests honored the memory of victims of the Brussels terrorist attacks and expressed sympathy to their families by a moment of silence.
