Madame President Jahjaga at the annual gathering for the Diplomatic Corps

On March 12, 2015 Madame President Atifete Jahjaga invited members of the Diplomatic Corps in Prishtina to the annual gathering. Among the guests there was also Michael D. Kirby, US Ambassador to Belgrade, and on behalf of the Kosovo government Hashim Thaçi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of foreign affairs.

Inter alia Madame President mentioned in her speech problems Kosovo has been facing recently – “spot elections, long and complicated formation of the government, the wave of illegal migration”. In this context she expressed her conviction that: “…our ability to overcome these difficult moments, to address them practically, has been a testament to the love that people of Kosovo feel for their country, to our maturity and to the strength of what we have built here together.“ At the same time, she added: “We have seen a Kosovo committed to the rule of law, a country that stays true to its fundamental values. A place that is serious in its determination to be a cultural mosaic.“

On behalf of the Diplomatic Corps, Robert Bosch, the Dutch Ambassador to Kosovo and doyen of the Diplomatic Corps in Prishtina delivered a toast stressing the necessity of consistent implementation of the rule of law and creation of favorable conditions for economic growth in the country.
