Just a Perfect Day... Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group

On Tuesday October 27, 2015 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pristina organized a reception on the occasion of the Czech National Day in the Kosovo National Library in Pristina and at the same time an opening ceremony of a photo-exhibition “Just a Perfect Day...” dedicated to the upcoming 25th anniversary of founding the Visegrad Group.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý introduced the event by stating that its goal is not only to commemorate the establishment of an independent Czechoslovak state, but, first of all, to emphasize the importance of the Visegrad Group. He highlighted the fact that within the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group the founding documents of the Western Balkans Fund will be signed on November 13, 2015 in Prague, during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Visegrad Group and Western Balkans countries. Ambassador Šilhavý also pointed out that the Visegrad Group will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its founding in February 2016. In his speech, he congratulated the Kosovo representatives on signing the Stabilization and Accession Agreement with the EU.

The photo-exhibition of pictures by Ivo Šilhavý which payed tribute to the former Czechoslovak and Czech President Václav Havel as one of the co-founders of the Visegrad Group was introduced by Pavel Seifter, former dissident and window cleaner, then close colleague of President Václav Havel and the Czech Ambassador to the UK.

As a guest of honor, Madame President Atifete Jahjaga took part at the reception and exhibition. Distinguished guests included the representatives of the Kosovo political life, NGOs, civil society, media, top representatives of the international organizations in Kosovo, members of the diplomatic corps in Pristina and the Czech staff members of the KFOR and EULEX missions. The reception and photo-exhibition was very popular with the media even the following days.
