EP Vice-President Lunacek at lunch with EU Heads of Mission

On November 9, 2015 Vice-President of the European Parliament, replacing the President for Western Balkans Ulrike Lunacek from the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance accepted the invitation to a working lunch with the EU Heads of Mission in Pristina, organized by the EU Special Representative Samuel Žbogar.

Among the discussed topics, there was the political situation in Kosovo, inacceptable activities of the Kosovo opposition in the Parliament, power industry and others. However, the dominant topic of the debate was the voting in UNESCO on Kosovo’s application for the membership which was just taking place at the same time in Paris. The outcome of the voting – rejection of Kosovo in UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – was noticed generally with a great disappointment. It was said that the political boycott of Kosovo’s inclusion into international organizations is counterproductive for the EU interests in Kosovo, in this case in particular concerning the Dialogue with Serbia or preservation of the Serb religious and cultural heritage in Kosovo.
