Czech Development Aid turns successful again

On October 13, 2016 the results of a development project, that allowed the medical examination of 11.000 children from Kosovo, were presented at the Municipality of Pristina. The Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý received acknowledgement from the Mayor of Pristina Shpent Ahmeti for the relentless support of the Czech Republic to the Kosovo's health care. In his speech, Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý highlighted health care as a priority for the Czech development cooperation in Kosovo.

The report evaluating the results of a Czech development project highly praised its benefits for the children of Pristina´s municipality and explicitly mentioned that thanks to the Czech development aid it was possible to achieve a significant improvement of the dramatic situation from 2014.

During the implementation of the project „Supporting Pristina Municipality health care institutions in detection and early intervention of eye and other problems of children“, school kids of 1st, 5th and 9th grade were medically examined with a goal to uncover possible health problems and to provide appropriate treatment based on early diagnosis.

As the main implementor of the project Pristina Municipality has established and trained, together with relevant health institutions, eight mobile medical teams that last year provided medical check-ups of nearly 11.000 school kids and established their electronic medical records.

The report´s results were presented by epidemiologist Dr. Nexhmedin Hoti from the Family Medical Center, and Dr. Teuta Hoxha from the Ministry of Health Care, who personally took part in the implementation of the Czech development project. The presentation was attended by Shpent Ahmenti, the Mayor of Pristina, Mr. Arben Vitia, Director of the Health and Social Welfare Department at the Municipality of Pristina, and representatives of healthcare professionals and media.
