Czech development project on inclusion of minorities

On September 15, 2016 the Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý visited an inclusive center in Fushe Kosovo in Pristina, that is part of a larger project implemented by the Czech Development Agency. The project entitled "Promoting the social inclusion of marginalized communities in Kosovo" is being implemented by the People in Need Foundation and the Kosovo NGO Balkan Sunflowers, and is aimed at supporting the integration of minorities into the Kosovo society.

This activity, which began early this year, is following the previous development cooperation projects of the Czech Development Agency and the Czech Embassy in Pristina, and is targeting the Kosovo minorities, especially the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians, whose children shall be integrated into the Kosovo society through the inclusive centers.

In these educational centers, specialized tutors are dedicating their time to needy children, so that they are able to follow a regular pace in primary schools and to integrate themselves into a standard teaching process. The mediators, who are part of the project, are visiting the affected families, and trying to help them to build a suitable climate for the necessary development of their children. The completion of the project is expected to be at the end of 2017.
