Czech Embassy awarded for supporting the community of the blind in Kosovo

On October 17, 2016 the Kosova Association of the Blind held the annual conference on the occasion of the International Week of White Cane. The Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý received from the president of the association Bujar Kadriu a Letter of Gratitude for supporting the community of the blind. In his speech, Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý highlighted social inclusion of handicapped people and health care as the top priorities of the Czech development cooperation in Kosovo.
 

Since 2008, the Czech Embassy in Pristina together with the Kosova Association of the Blind, and other partners, were implementing many projects aimed at improvement of standards of living, lobbing on law on Blinds, social inclusion, integration, detection and early intervention of eye problems, training, IT equipment, and study visits.

Kosova Association of the Blind marks every year the International Week of White Cane, and on that occasion awards various personalities and donors for their activities in support of the community of the blind. This year, Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuçi, Deputy Minister of Labor a Social Affairs Rita Hajzera and the representative of „Young Ambassadors“ Eronita Rexhepi, were awarded among others.
