Final Conference of the Czech transition project

A conference on facilitating the access of people with disabilities to the labour market took place in Pristina.

This year as a part of the Czech transition cooperation, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kosovo, in cooperation with the Kosovo Disability Forum, implemented project entitled "Facilitating inclusion, using talents and creating of a wider awareness of employment of people with disabilities".

The final conference of this project took place on 20 October in Pristina. It was attended by Daulin Osmani, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, representatives of Kosovo's institutions and leadership of disabled people's organizations. The representative of KDF presented the results of the survey of employment of people with disabilities, which was prepared within the project. Speakers agreed on the need for a more detailed identification of the needs of individual groups of people with disabilities and, in particular, on the need for better coordination of state institutions in fulfilling the obligations arising from Kosovo's legislation. KDF President Bujar Kadriu emphasized that the recommendations adopted within the project should contribute to this.

In his speech Head of the Czech Embassy Pavel Bílek, recalled the long-term support that the Czech Republic provides to the community of people with disabilities in Kosovo. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the ongoing project to facilitate their access to the labour market. He expressed the belief that the recommendations, which will be one of the outputs of this project, will serve the Kosovo authorities and institutions in fulfilling their obligations under the legislation towards a group of people with disabilities.
