Agreement with EU will improve Business Environment

The Conference "High Level Conference on EU-Kosovo Stabilization and Association Agreement" took place on May 17, 2016 in Pristina. The seminar was primarily focused on the benefits and opportunities of the Agreement for the Kosovo´s economy, economic growth and employment.

The Conference was organized by the EU Office in Pristina in cooperation with the Government of Kosovo. President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, EC Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Minister of European Integration of Kosovo Bekim Çollaku joined the opening ceremony of the Conference. In their speeches they highly valued the Agreement, which they called as the Contract for the future of Kosovo. They agreed that the implementation of the Agreement will support the economic growth, improve the business environment, increase the economic performance and improve the quality of local products. The Agreement is the base for improving the conditions for entrepreneurs, for creating the new opportunities in all sectors of Kosovo's economy and has positive impact to the internal market, consumers as well as in creating the new jobs.

Projects for the reconstruction of the main railway network in Western Balkans, including Kosovo and the completion of the motorway linking Macedonia and Serbia via Kosovo were especially discussed in the panel dedicated to infrastructural issues.

Intentions of the Government for the reconstruction of existing power plants Kosovo A and Kosovo B and the plan to build the new power plant Kosovo New were discussed in the section focused on energy. The panelists highly appreciated interconnection network of high voltage between Kosovo and Albania as well as the support of renewable energy sources.

The implementation of the Agreement will open the access to the Kosovo market for the Czech companies, and with applied European standards the territory will offer many new as well as some in past unused opportunities for the Czech entrepreneurs in energy sector, railway transport and energy efficiency.
