Incoming mission of Kosovo experts in energy sector heads to the Czech Republic

On October 30-31, 2017, the Czech Power Industry Association (CPIA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pristina, organizes an Incoming mission of Kosovo experts focused on the energy sector. The program of the mission includes an excursion to the Czech power plants Tušimice and Ledvice as well as a seminar with a following B2B meeting of Czech and Kosovo companies taking place in Prague.

The project is implemented within the framework of the program for the promotion of economy diplomacy funded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and is organized by Škoda Praha. The Kosovo will be represented by the management of the Kosovo Energy Corporation ((Korporata Energjetike e Kosovës – KEK) and the management of the power plants Kosovo A and Kosovo B.

Kosovo's energy is based primarily on burning lignite from a coal mine near Kosovo A and Kosovo B. Both power stations and also the mining site will require a necessary reconstruction in the near future. The Kosovo government is also preparing the construction of a new power plant - the Kosovo C / New, the implementation of which was contracted by the US partner Contour Global. Opportunities in a wide range of classical energy technologies are opening up to the Czech companies over the next few years.

During the meeting with Ambassador Mr. Ivo Šilhavy, Prime minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj appreciated the cooperation of the Czech Embassy on the preparation of the mission of Kosovo experts to Czechia and he stressed a big potential in extending the bilateral relations, in particularly in economy and trade. Prime minister considers the upcoming project for the reconstruction of the Coal-power plant Kosovo B as an opportunity for the cooperation with the Czech companies.

Mainly the CPIA members and the Czech companies which may take an interest in participating in the reconstruction and construction of the Kosovo energy sector are invited to the seminar. The event will be held at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic at Politických vězňů Street on October 31, 2017.
