International Fair EXPOKOS 2016 – Czech participation

International Fair Expokos 2016 will be held from May 25 to 27 in Pristina for the 15th time. This year's edition focuses primarily on the energy and mining sector, on construction, new technologies and real estate. The Czech Embassy in Pristina is preparing the participation of Czech companies in the joint exhibition in the framework of economic diplomacy projects, which is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

Expokos Fair is traditionally the biggest fair event in Kosovo and is also one of the largest events of its kind in the Western Balkans. Expokos is an important communication and information platform offering exhibiting companies the opportunity to establish professional contacts and the opportunity to introduce their products to the public.

The exhibition area is 20,000 square meters, 273 exhibitors presented here in the year 2015; the exhibitions were attended by more than 30,000 visitors from Kosovo, from the countries of the Western Balkans and the EU.

In Kosovo there are an extensive number of ongoing projects, which will be introduced at the fair. For example, the New Power Plant Project is one of the largest projects of the Republic of Kosovo implemented by the Ministry of Economic Growth, as well as the largest direct foreign investment of 1 billion EUR. The binding contract for the new coal fired 500 MW Power Plant has been signed by the Ministry and the investing company at the end of 2015.

The first Czech participation in the fair Expokos took place in 2012. In a joint exhibition 9 Czech companies from the energy, mining and construction sector were presented.

The Czech Republic returns to the Expokos after four years, this year's participation was preceded by an analysis of export opportunities for the Czech companies in Kosovo and the specific interest of several Czech companies to enter the Kosovo market. Two seminars on investment and export opportunities in Kosovo, held in November 2014 and 2015 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague with the leading experts from Kosovo, were also an important contribution to the preparation of the Czech attendance at the Expokos 2016.

This year, the Czech participation will focus on the technology of wastewater treatment, the use of solar energy and other alternative energy sources, as well as on energy focusing on coal and on mining sector.
