International General Fair „Prishtina 2017“- Interest in Czech products

On April 19 – 22, 2017 the 18th International General Fair "Prishtina 2017" took place in Pristina. The structure of the exhibited products marked the predominance of the exhibits and technologies imported from abroad over the local production. This lack of domestic production is creating a space for the Czech companies to enter the Kosovar market.

This year's fair was attended by more than 135 predominantly Kosovar companies of a fairly wide range; food businesses, agro family farms and construction companies (from industrial buildings to family houses) were most represented. Furthermore there were booths of companies presenting solar, heating and air conditioning technologies. Besides the domestic food products, the other exhibits mostly came from the foreign companies, or they were manufactured in Kosovo in a foreign license.

The Czech companies are relatively doing well in Kosovo; the Kosovo market is particularly promising for small and medium-sized businesses. The Czech companies, in addition to cars and buses, successfully exported to Kosovo mainly building products from plastics, building joinery products and food processing machines. In the past three years, the Czech exports to Kosovo have increased regularly by about 10 % per year; they increased by 12.6 % in 2016.

An interesting opportunity for the Czech companies could be the offer for cooperation by a Kosovar importer of products focused on heating and air conditioning. The company "Eng House" is interested in importing the Czech heat exchangers (boilers), oil/coal/pellets-fired boilers and solar technology products.
