REKO PRAHA has started the Reconstruction of the Kosovo A Cooling Tower

The Czech Company REKO PRAHA obtained a contract for the reconstruction of the cooling tower for the power plant Kosovo A. The Czech Company entered the tender along with Kosovo Company Ekoinvest in 2016. The aim of the reconstruction, launched in May 2018, is to increase the cooling efficiency and hence to achieve a higher power of the power plant. The Czech Embassy actively participated in the search for a suitable Czech firm and the establishment of the cooperation with Kosovo partner.

The agreement between the Kosovo Energy Corporation J.s.c (KEK) and Ekoinvest about the modernization of the cooling tower was signed in May 2017. Designing of the project and ensuring the supply of some technical components started after signing of the contract. KEK, as the operator of the power plant Kosovo A, has decided to increase the performance of the two remaining units and to extend the life of the power plant by rebuilding of the technological part of the cooling tower. The outdated cooling technology will be removed and a new and modern technology will be installed in its place. The Installation of the slow-speed motors of the Czech origin for the fan drive, which do not require the use of gearboxes, will be the highlights of the reconstruction.

The Representatives of REKO PRAHA appreciate the good cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pristina, which was at the beginning of the first contacts between the Czech and Kosovo companies. The Czech Embassy also actively cooperated to contribute to the successful conclusion of the contract.
