State of Emergency including specific measures such as the reintroduction of border controls

The Government of the Czech Republic on the 12th of March, with the aim of reducing public exposure to the COVID pandemic State of Emergency including specific measures such as the reintroduction of border controls.

The Government on the 12th of March, with the aim of reducing public exposure to the COVID pandemic State of Emergency including specific measures such as the reintroduction of border controls.

  1. declaration of the State of Emergency (according to Art. 5 and 6 Act. No. 110/1998 Coll.) – in force from 14:00, Thursday 12th of Marchthis empowers the Government to adopt certain crisis measures- the Prime Minister is empowered to oversee the implementation of these crisis measures

  2. Specific measures adopted subsequently:

prohibition of entry (in force from 00:00, Saturday 14th of March)- for nationals of 13 „high risk countries“, namely China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Germany, France, USA, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium, Austria, Greece
- Automatic exception for those with temporary residency permit for more than 90 days or with permanent residency permit
- COM will be notified by midnight, Thursday 12th of March

prohibition of entering above-mentioned „high-risk countries“ (in force from 00:00, Saturday 14th of March)
- Applies for CZ citizens and foreign nationals with  temporary residency permit for more than 90 days or with permanent residency permit
- COM will be notified by midnight Thursday 12th of March

reintroduction of internal border controls (in force from 00:00 14th of March to 00:00 18th of March) 
- applies to ground and air border with Germany and Austria
- The internal border between the Czech Republic and affected states can only be crossed at specified border crossings. 
- Exception granted to select categories of persons, for whom introducing limits on border crossing would be considered disproportionate or against public interest (e.g. the integrated rescue system, persons caught in an unforeseen emergency, freight etc.).
- COM will be notified by midnight Thursday 12th of March

prohibition of transport of more than 9 persons on board of a bus, train, plane, ship
- Applies for all borders of CZ. (in force from 00:00, Saturday 14th of March)
- COM will be notified by midnight Friday 12th March.
