At the beginning of the meeting, which took place in a very friendly atmosphere, Petr Starý summarized his five years in Palestine in terms of Czech-Palestinian relations. He stressed the importance of trade, the most important trade item being automobiles, and development cooperation. He recalled some of the successful projects, such as the support of renewable energy sources in schools, thanks to which a large part of the beneficiaries of these projects are children and young people. Relations at the political level have been complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years, and Minister Malki expressed the hope that the yearly Czech-Palestinian ministerial meetings would resume with the end of the pandemic.
