Launch of a small-scale development project to support centre for children with disabilities in Dura

On 14 April 2022, the Head of the Representative Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah Jakub Šlosárek signed a contract for the implementation of a small-scale project with the Chairman of the Dura al-Amal Charitable Association, Dr. Mohammad Al-Sayyed. The signing ceremony took place at the Dura municipality in the presence of the city representatives. The aim of the project is to equip a hearing examination room for early diagnosis of hearing difficulties in children with disabilities.

The centre, run by the Dura al-Amal Charitable Association in the town of Dura in the southern part of the Hebron governorate, is attended by children with various types of disabilities from the town itself and from many of the surrounding villages. Fifty to sixty mostly autistic children are cared for by the association on a day-to-day basis, with others attending weekly for therapy sessions. The aim is to help these children to become independent and to integrate into the society. For this reason, the association has a workshop where young people make handmade decorative items, in addition to a special school and premises for various types of therapy. The Czech Republic has already worked together with the Association, providing rehabilitation equipment as part of a small-scale project in 2019.
