Czech Škoda cars remain among the best-selling in Palestine

In 2017, the Czech automobile manufacturer Škoda Auto, represented in Palestine by the United Motor Trade company (UMT), retained its second place among the best-selling personal vehicles on the Palestinian market.

Over the past year, UMT sold 855 new Škoda cars, exceeding the previous year's sales by 131 vehicles. This result represents a 15.6% market share in Palestine.  The first place remains with the Korean manufacturer KIA with only a few dozen cars difference in sales.

During a January official visit of Mr. Petr Starý, the Head of the Czech Representative Office in Ramallah, at the UMT Headquarters in Nablus, the General Manager of UMT, Mr. Sameh Masri, shared his expectation of further increase in sales of Škoda cars in Palestine in 2018. The aim of his company is to exceed the number 1000 of new Škoda cars sold this year. Among other reasons for his optimism is an exceptionally high demand for the new Kodiaq vehicles.

UMT runs five vehicle showrooms in several major cities of Palestine and Škoda cars are also sold in the Palestinian territories by six other dealers. In November 2017, UMT organized an official visit of several of its prime customers to Škoda Auto headquarters in the Czech Republic in order to further support sales of Škoda cars in Palestine. The participants of the visit had the opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process and the history of the Škoda company.

Last year, UMT also succeeded in several tenders of state institutions. Some Palestinian ministers, including Transport Minister Samih Tubila or Minister of Tourism Rula Maya, use Škoda Superb cars as official vehicles.

Škoda cars are also among the best-selling used cars in Palestine.
