Permanent Representative to COREPER I

Lucie Šestáková

Deputy Head of the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU, Permanent Representative to COREPER I, Ambassador

 

Lucie Šestáková took up her post on 9 March 2023 as Czechia's acting Permanent Representative in the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States (COREPER I) within the Council of the European Union. Since June 2017, she has served at the Permanent Representation as Mertens.


Lucie Šestáková graduated from the University of Economics in Prague in 2000 with a degree in European Integration. After her studies, she joined the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the next 9 years. She worked, among others, as Director of the Internal Market and Services Department and Director of the Multilateral and Common Trade Policy Department. In 2009, she moved to Brussels where she worked as Head of Sectoral Agendas A Unit, focusing mainly on the internal market, industry and energy agendas. In 2011, she was appointed as acting Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to COREPER I. In 2014, she joined the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, where she served as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs and Director of the EU Economic Policy Coordination Department until 2017. In the same year, she returned to Brussels as Mertens, where she was responsible for the coordination and substantive preparation of COREPER I meetings.


Lucie Šestáková has one daughter. She speaks English and French.
