International Film Festival Riga 2020 with rich Czech participation

The Czechoslovak New Wave will dominate at the Riga 2020 International Film Festival. Czech (Czechoslovak) cinema will be represented not only by renewed Czech classics, but also by newer titles, including this year's novelty Charlatan or last year's documentary about one of the most famous Czech film directors, Miloš Forman.

From 15 to 25 October 2020 will take place the sixth International Film Festival (IFF) Riga 2020, which in this year will present a whole series of Czech films - from classics such as The Cremator by Juraj Herz (1968), The firemen’s ball by Miloš Forman (1967), Intimate lighting by Ivan Passer (1965), Diamonds of the night by Jan Němec (1964) – to newer: Charlatan by Agnieszka Holland (2020), Forman vs Forman by Helena Třeštíková and Jakub Hejna (2019), The Vasulka effect by Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir (2019) and others.

The Riga International Film Festival was established in 2014, and has quickly become one of Latvia’s premier cultural events. It is a celebration of cinema that introduces the international film industry to the current body of work coming out of the Baltic Sea region and the Nordic countries, and in turn, introduces local audiences to the latest happenings in world cinema. The festival advances public interest in current events taking place in the contemporary cinema landscape, and encourages dialogue between viewers and filmmakers.

Viewers can enjoy movies in cinemas, some films will be available online. More detailed information about the festival program: https://rigaiff.lv/en/calendar/
