The Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Latvia Met with the President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences

Wednesday, September 21, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic hold talks in a friendly atmosphere with the President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences Mr. Ojārs Spārītis.
 

One of the main subjects was to introduce the Ambassador with both academies joint projects followed by the signing of the cooperation agreement last December 15.

There was mentioned the project Thin Films for Optoelectronics - Preparation and Defects Investigation, where Riga Technical University is involved  together with the Czech Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences. Another project relates to the national minorities and ethnic groups - National Minorities and Ethnic Groups: Past and Present Experience in the Czech Republic and Latvia, which is handled by the Institute of philosophy and sociology of the University of Latvia jointly with the Czech Institute for contemporary history.

Another important topic that has been discussed during the visit had respect to the Czech research priorities for 2016 – 2022 reflected in the document developed by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports - Road Map for Large Research, Development and Innovation Infrastructures in the Czech Republic.

Regarding the six selected issues it has been particularly highlighted the physical sciences, energy, environmental sciences and biomedicine, where both sides agreed on mutual cooperation in joint projects development and realization.
