During the courtesy call a high level of Czech - Latvian relations and mutual interest in their further deepening were noted. President Levits highly praised the participation of Czech Army soldiers in NATO's eFP mission in Latvia and expressed interest in bilateral talks with his Czech counterpart. He also pointed to some similar moments of Czech and Latvian history, mentioned the 30. Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution of 1989 and mentioned his interest in the history of the Moravian Brethren. The Ambassador expressed the interest of the Czech Republic in continuing and deepening the bilateral political dialogue with Latvia, highlighted the good potential of economic and trade cooperation, presented the Czech presidency in the Visegrad Group and stressed the importance of defense and security cooperation. The interview was conducted in a very friendly spirit.
