Military Art Ensemble Ondráš in Latvia

As a part of the Baltic tour, the Military Art Ensemble Ondráš visited Latvia from 17 to 19 September.

On Tuesday, September 17, five dance pairs and 12 members of the folk instruments orchestra started their performance in Latvia at the military base Adaži, followed next day by an evening concert in the Great Guild Concert Hall in Riga, which ended with a reception on the occasion of the celebration of the Czech Statehood Day. The next day, Ondráš had a concert in the Great Amber Concert Hall in Liepāja.

Ambassador of the Czech Republic Miroslav Kosek opened the concert in Riga in an ancient guild house. He emphasized the similarity of Latvia and the Czech Republic, the pride of both countries for their cultural heritage, the likeness of historical experience and the desire for freedom and democracy. In his opening remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the presence of Czech soldiers serving in multinational troops in Latvia and their assistance in securing the Baltic airspace this year. Thanks to this, the ensemble Ondráš was performing under the auspices of the Czech Minister of Defense. The Ondráš military art ensemble presents the army of the Czech Republic not only as a reliable ally, but also as a bearer of national traditions and Czech, Moravian and Slovak folklore. In conclusion, the Ambassador thanked the sponsors - Česká zbrojovka, Joker Ltd., Tatra and Budwiser Budvar, without whom the tour would not have been so successful. The representative of the ensemble Hana Novosadová made a small introduction of this group.

Ondráš performed their program Through the Landscape of Time to the audience of the Great Guild Concert Hall for an hour and a half. Although there are still three months to Christmas, listeners could observe Christmas atmosphere on the stage and enjoy a colourful folklore feast, showing the important moments of human life and traditions that could still be observed somewhere. Right from the beginning the band managed to create a unique and joyful atmosphere and almost every song was awarded with applause. More than 400 guests attended the concert, and the main hall of the Great Guild was completely full.

The concert was followed by a reception opened by Ambassador Miroslav Kosek and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla. Both of them emphasized the mutual friendship of Latvia and the Czech Republic. During the reception, the presentation of Moravian wines and draft Budvar beer took place.
