Ambassador visited Jelgava together with Czech troops from eFP NATO

On February 25, Ambassadors of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, together with members of the Czech and Slovak army currently serving in NATO's eFP mission in Latvia, visited the fourth largest city of Jelgava. They hold talks with the Chairman of Jelgava city council, visited the local state gymnasium and they met the Rector of the Latvia University of Life Science and Technologies located in the famous baroque Jelgava Palace.
 

On these occasions, Ambassador Jana Hynková presented the Czech Republic as an important political, economic and cultural partner of Latvia. She also stressed the excellent relations between the two countries and the possibilities of their further development, incl. science, research and technological development. She also introduced the Czech Republic as an interesting tourist destination. Czech Army soldiers from the NATO eFP mission in Adazi presented the mission's objectives, fulfilments of the Czech Republic's commitments towards the Alliance partner of Latvia, as well as the capabilities of the Czech army. The Chairman of Jelgava city council Andris Ravinš presented Jelgava as a suitable place for foreign investments, especially in the woodworking, agricultural and food industries, as well as in machinery and metalworking and in plastics processing. He also presented Jelgava as a "smart city" for the future. There was an interactive discussion with students of Jelgava state gymnasium. Rector of LLU Irina Pilvere presented the university itself and also it´s already existing cooperation with some Czech universities; three Czech students now present at the university within the Erasmus program were also at the meeting.
