Visit to Bauska municipality; exhibition "Czech UNESCO heritage" at Bauska Castle

On 25 April, Ambassador Jana Hynková, together with the Embassy's expert in science, education, and culture Nadežda Kopoloveca and representatives of NATO eFP in Adaži Czech Unit, led by Captain Jan Kuthan, visited Bauska Region and Bauska — Partner City of Náchod in Czech Republic.

The delegation to the municipality was welcomed by the chairman of the Municipal Council Aivars Okmanis, as well as the head of the Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and public welfare Antra Ozoliņa and the head of the Department of business and marketing Laura Ārente.

The ambassador listened to the official presentation of the city and the region, which highlighted the efforts to create an industrial and logistics park in Bauska to further develop production and business, including international operation. It was also mentioned that the European high-speed rail line Rail Baltica will also run nearby. The current Cooperation between Bauska and Náchod was presented as well as plans for further cooperation, including the field of Tourism.

Captain of the Czech unit of NATO eFP in Ādaži Jan Kuthan presented the objectives of the mission, saying that its main task is to demonstrate their commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of NATO member states through active presence.

Afterwards, the delegation visited Bauska Secondary School No 2 and watched a presentation about it. Civil Defense Training pilot project is being held in this school therefore members of the Czech Army presented their mission to Latvia. The delegation also visited two local companies "Baltic Dairy Board" and "GUSTO".

At the end of the visit, Ambassador Hynková and director of Bauska Castle Māris Skanis, with the participation of the chairman of the Municipal Council, opened the exhibition "Czech UNESCO heritage – "Style is not to be written. Style is to be looked at". The exhibition of sixteen panels presents UNESCO heritage sites in the Czech Republic. The exhibition was prepared by the Association of Czech Cities and Counties. The exhibition in Bauska Castle can be seen from 25. April to 11. May during the museum's opening hours and is available to all visitors for free.
