2021 Czech Culture Week opens in Pyeongtaek City

On July 6th, the Czech Culture Week, as part of the 2021 Pyeongtaek World Culture Weeks, has finally opened its doors to the public.

Hosted and organized by Pyeongtaek City and Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation (PIEF), the Czech Culture Week offers various programs to taste and experience the Czech culture which were prepared in collaboration with the Czech Embassy, Czech Tourism and Czech Centre.

At the opening ceremony, the Czech Ambassador Gustav Slamecka and the Pyeongtaek City Mayor Jung, Jang-Seon shared their expectations in their remarks that this event would promote the friendly relations between Korea and the Czech Republic, and exchanged commemorative gifts representing each country. Especially emphasizing the friendship between the City and the Embassy, the Czech Ambassador also mentioned that he hopes the Czech Culture Week would serve as an excellent opportunity to remind the Korean citizens of Czechia during this time of many restrictions on travel.

As the week-long programs during the Czech Culture Week (July 6th-11th) held at Baedari Library, the visitors can enjoy the ‘100 Years of Czech Cartoons Exhibition’ by Czech Centre, ‘Czech Castles Photo Exhibition and Photo Booth’ by Czech Tourism, and also the Exhibition of Czech Literatures translated into Korean. Upon reservation with PIEF, there are also various interesting programs awaiting including the Czech cooking class, Czech Marionette performance of Sugungga, and Czech classic music concert.
