(This article expired 31.08.2022 / 16:44.)

This August, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Korea has opened the Commemorative Outdoor Photo Exhibition held in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Korean-Czech Diplomatic Relations. The exhibition is comprised of around 100 photographs displayed on 14 panels surrounding the exterior fences of the Czech Centre building (17 Gyeonghuigung 1-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul) which was also the previous location of the Czech Embassy.

The commemorative exhibition features a variety of themes to celebrate the anniversary year. Along with the anniversary logo, selected through a contest co-organized with the Korean Embassy in Prague, the exhibition highlights the history of the bilateral relationship both in the diplomatic relations and much older civil contacts. Visitors can find pictures representing state symbols of the Czech Republic, along with the significant Bohemian Crown Jewels, as well as dynamic Czech history from its distant past through the communist era to its modern and democratic presence.

The open-air exhibition also introduces the small Czech community in Korea, introducing the stories of Czech people working in various sectors in Korea and sharing Czech cultures with Korean people as civil public diplomats. There is also a panel featuring major Korean investors in the Czech Republic; Doosan Škoda Power, Nexen Tire and Hyundai Motor. Last but not least, the Czech tourism panels will take the visitors to the beautiful Czech UNESCO heritage sites and tourist attractions that are loved by many Koreans.

The photo exhibition has brief captions on each panel as well as QR (Quick Response) Codes for those who are further interested in learning more. Using their mobile phone, visitors can easily scan the QR codes embedded in the pictures and find more information in texts prepared both in English and Korean online. This outdoor exhibition welcomes guests until the end of this anniversary year in an open space enabling social distancing .
