The photographic exhibition „1989 Velvet Revolution – Fall of the Iron Curtain“ is organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the fall of communist regime in Czechoslovakia.

Since the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution is closely intertwined with the revolutions and events in other countries of former communist bloc, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Czech Centre in Seoul invited the Embassies of the Visegrad4 Countries; Embassy of Slovakia, Poland and Hungary in Seoul to cooperate in this exhibition.

The exhibition in Seoul brings the extract from a large exhibition that is currently being presented at the Prague Castle.  A castle spokesperson comments, “It is a selection of truly unique moments that often do not need any further words or explanations. The photographs accurately reflect the unique atmosphere, enthusiasm, hope, determination, and desire for freedom. Outside and inside, there are screens showing the most important events.”

The viewers can see the best of Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian and German photographers. Their works present an extensive photographic testimony of the turnaround year of 1989 in Central Europe, marking the end of the barrier that had divided the world for more than four decades. It will bring back memories to those who have lived through and witnessed those exciting moments. This will also bring younger generations closer to these dramatic events, more than history books can ever do.

The exhibition will be held at AAIPS gallery in Seoul, from November 15 until December 1, from 10:00 am to 5:oo pm.

** Please be advised that the last day (Dec 1) of the exhibition will be open only until 12pm.
